SHORT BLOCK #2

2:30 PM (Saturday, May 3rd)
Short Block #2 consists of 6 films that explore themes of confronting the past or facing disillusionment with reality, whether through revisiting a life of crime, facing life-or-death decisions, struggling with unfulfilled ambition, or waiting for something that will never come. SHORT BLOCK #3

5:00 PM (Sunday, May 4th)
Short block #3 consists of four short films whose themes explore self-discovery and personal transformation through unexpected challenges—whether it's a woman seeking adventure in an unfamiliar place, a couple navigating a turning point in their relationship, a radio DJ confronting her past and future, or an athlete overcoming barriers to achieve his dreams. Each story explores personal growth, resilience, and the transformative power of stepping outside one's comfort zone.

THIRD ACT

On its surface, the documentary is a biopic that explores the elder filmmaker's public role as "the Godfather of Asian American film,” including one of the pioneering works exploring the Japanese American internment camps in WW2. But with his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, the film navigates themes of art, grief, and a father-son relationship. The undercurrent poses a question that’s at once personal and universal: how can a father and son say goodbye?
